Trailblazer boys headed to state cross country meet

The Daniel Boone boys’ cross-country team continued its dominance over local schools, capturing the regional title on Oct. 25.
After winning the Big 8 championships a week before, Boone hosted the regional meet and stamped their ticket to Nashville for the State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The Blazers earned the win with 32 points, a distance ahead of second best Science Hill, who finished with 76.
Dobyns-Bennett, Morristown West and Sevier County rounded out the top five.
Morristown West’s Quintin McKinnish finished the run with the best time at 15:43.1, narrowly beating out second place finisher, Adam Barnard of Boone, who finished with a time of 15:49.4.
Finishing next for the Blazers were Roderick Bowman (16:21.4) and Chad Whitehead (16:37.8) who placed third and fourth, respectively. James Garth (17:07.4) and Jordan Roth (17:18.1) also contributed to Boone’s big day, placing ninth and fourteenth.
In the girls’ run, the Lady Blazers finished fifth, ending their season two places shy of going to state.
Science Hill, Morristown West and Tennessee High captured the top three spots.
Only one runner not on the top three teams earned a place at the state meet as an individual. That spot was captured by Crockett’s Carrigen Bishop (20:21.7). She finished sixth overall at the event and will be heading to Nashville as an individual.
The state meet will take place at Steeplechase in Nashville on Nov. 3.
