Tenth annual CASA golf tournament set for August

CASA of Northeast Tennessee is holding its 10th annual golf tournament at the Johnson City Country Club on Monday, Aug. 24, to help raise funds and increase awareness for the CASA program.
The tournament offers a two- and four-person scramble format with starts for two flights beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Local celebrities will be on hand at the event, and hole-in-one prizes worth over $10,000 will be available.
Funds raised from the tournament will help benefit abused and neglected children in the area.
Each year, approximately 460,000 children nationwide enter the court system at no fault of their own.
The mission of CASA is to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the Juvenile Court, following the belief that every child is entitled to a safe and stable home.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) ensure that these children have an advocate solely for them—that are there to look out for the child’s best interest and provide a voice throughout the judicial process to ensure a child’s needs are being met.
CASA of Northeast Tennessee works with the Juvenile Courts in Washington, Greene, and Unicoi counties and Johnson City.
Community participation and sponsorship of the event is pivotal to the nonprofit organization’s success.
Golfers will have their choice to participate as a two- or four-person team for $125 per player if registration is made by Friday, July 24. Registration will cost $150 per player after the early registration date.
New to the event this year will be a special Sunday night event at the Johnson City Country Club featuring the Lauren Cole Band, food, wine tasting and a local art silent auction. The Sunday night event is free for golf participants, but is also open to the public. Tickets are $25.
“CASA is dedicated to serving children in our community who have fallen victim to abuse and neglect,” said Leslie Dalton, executive director. “In participating in the event, you are helping speak for these children’s rights.”
