South’s Rebels take down the Trailblazers

From Staff Reports
Sullivan South’s offense proved too much for the Daniel Boone High School Trailblazers on Friday.
The Rebels managed to rack up 69 points against Boone, for a final score of 69-53 in the Big Eight Conference game.
Boone (4-4, 12-6) and Sullivan South (6-3, 11-6) rallied back and forth pretty evenly until late in the first quarter. Sullivan led by one point, 19-18, at the end of the first quarter. Boone stayed in the game, pulling to within 4 points, 34-30, with three minutes left in the first half.
That was the last the Trailblazers would see of a close game, however. The Rebels had a 7-2 scoring run to take the lead, 41-32, at the end of the half.
In the second half, the Rebels took a double-digit lead on an Andrew Pickwell score.
The Trailblazers’ Travis Keever, who finished the night as Boone’s high scorer, pulled Boone back within single digits in the fourth quarter, but just briefly.
To end the game, the Rebels outscored the Trailblazers 15-8, led by Pickwell’s three consecutive scores.
South’s Pickwell ended the game with 21 points.
Boone was led by Keever, who had 15 points. Austin Reppart and Kevin Connell scored 10 points each.
Earlier in the week, Boone earned a victory against Tennessee High, 70-61.
While it was an evenly matched first half, ending with Boone leading Tennessee High by one point, 16-15, the Trailblazers outscored the Volunteers 24-8 in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Tennessee High rallied back, scoring 23 points to Boone’s 22, but the ‘Blazers managed to hold off the Viking effort.
Senior Jordan Gray led the Trailblazers with 17 points, including 5 3-pointers. Austin Reppart contributed 12 points, and Hayden Chandley added 8.
