Rain doesn’t detour middle school teams

The Pioneers were forced to cancel their 7th grade game, but the damp field conditions didn’t detour the 8th graders. However, Mother Nature eventually caught up with the Pioneer squad as their game was ended in the third quarter with Vance leading 8-6 due to lightning. Pioneer coach Jacob Adkins said that he hoped that the two teams would be able to finish the contest at a later date.
On the other side of the county, the Boone team scored a 44-0 victory over Unicoi County on the road.
Next week, Boone will travel to Vance, while the Pioneers will host Liberty Bell. 7th grade games start at 5:30 p.m., with the 8th grade contest starting at 7 p.m.
