Local golfers lead the way in Tri-Cities tourney

Several Jonesborough residents are among golfers leading the way in the Tri-Cities Amateur Tour thus far. Standings as of the recent Links Hill Invitational show a close points race at the top.
According to event organizers, winning an event makes a big difference in points.
To date, each of the fields in the Invitational have been increased about 50 percent in the Championship Flights.
In the regular division, JonesboroughÂ’s Chip Spratlin sits in second place with 69 points. Local golfer Dane Voss is in seventh place so far, with 44.5 points while Zach Botts, of Jonesborough, sits in 10th place with 35 points.
Others from Jonesborough participating in the tour include Zack Breedlove, currently in 12th place; Jared Songster, currently in 41st place; and Michael Alread, currently in 43rd place.
In the senior division of the same tour, Jonesborough residents Mitch Cox and Donnie Bradford are tied for 26th place.
The Tour continued over the weekend at the Graysburg Amateur event. The East Tennessee Amateur outing is set to start on Friday, July 2.
In the Tri-Cities Jr. Series, held at the Johnson City Country Club on June 12, Jonesborough residents also placed well.
In boys 16-18 Media Results, Zach Botts placed first, Travis Campbell, third, and Codie Campbell tied for sixth. Justin Eldridge came in ninth. In boys 10-11 Media Results, Will Botts placed first. In boys 12-13 Media Results, Alex Bradford finished fourth.
