Lady Trailblazers, Lady Pioneers face off

The Daniel Boone Lady Trailblazers faced their county rival last week and came out on top while the David Crockett Lady Pioneers fell to 0-14 in conference play.
Boone controlled the pace of the game for most of the match up, defensively smothering Crockett on the Pioneers’ home court.
Boone forced 10 turnovers in the first quarter alone, helping to put them up 11-0 within minutes. At the end of the first quarter, Boone led 15-6.
Crockett failed to find a rhythm in the second quarter, scoring only one basket — a three-pointer by senior Candace Pharris.
At the half, Boone led 30-13 and continued their winning ways in the second half of the game. Opening the third quarter with a 8-0 run, Boone didn’t bother looking back as they went on to defeat Crockett 51-28.
Leading scorers for the Lady Trailblazers were Jessie Wheelock and Natalie Sheffey, who each scored 7 points. For Crockett, Pharris and Leah Rose each earned 8 points.
In other games, Boone defeated Volunteer on Feb. 8 by a score of 47-42 then lost to Tennessee High on Thursday, 54-23. Crockett lost 52-47 to University High on Friday.
