Lady Trailblazers defeat Lady Pioneers in match up

David Crockett High School traveled to Gray to take on Daniel Boone High School last week in conference play.
The Lady Trailblazers walked away with the 54-47 victory, earning their second conference win of the season.
Crockett and Boone played a tight first quarter before the Lady Trailblazers blew the game out of the water with a 21-4 run in the second quarter. By half time, Boone was winning 32-14.
The Lady Pioneers made a bit of a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, recording 25 points after scoring only in the single digits in each of the previous quarters.
The effort was not enough, however, leaving the Lady Pioneers without a win yet this season.
Boone’s Brooke Barnard led the Lady Trailblazers offensively, earning 9 points while Jessie Summie added 8 points. Raven Wilson recorded 7 points and Courtney Baskett, Jordan Bacon and Natalie Sheffey each scored 6 points for Boone.
For Crockett, Brittany Richardt recorded 13 points while Leah Rose and Sara Shipley each added 10 points for the Lady Pioneers.
Later in the week, the Lady Pioneers traveled to Elizabethton to take on the Lady Cyclones in a rescheduled match up that had to be postponed earlier this month due to inclement weather.
Crockett fell to Elizabethton, 74-27. Rose led the way in scoring once again for the Lady Pioneers, recording 7 points in the game. Shipley, a freshman, came away with 5 points, including a three-pointer.
On Friday, the Lady Trailblazers took on Sullivan Central, losing the game 60-44, putting Boone in sixth place in the Big Eight Conference.
Meanwhile, the Lady Pioneers competed against Science Hill on Friday where the Lady Hilltoppers defeated Crockett 75-40.
The Lady Pioneers currently sit in the eighth spot in Conference standings.
