Lady Pioneers record second win of season against University High

The David Crockett High School girls’ basketball team earned its first win of the season Thursday, defeating University High 55-46.
Crockett’s Abbey Gladden led offensively, earning 18 points during the game at UH. Crockett’s Brittany Ward recorded 13 points in the game while senior Leah Rose tallied 12 points.
Also last week, the Lady Pioneers faced tough competition in games against Dobyns-Bennett and Volunteer.
On Jan. 19, Crockett faced Dobyns-Bennett at D-B, losing the match up 79-52.
The Lady Pioneers were outscored in the first quarter, which ended 22-5. By half time, D-B was winning the game 43-19. The girls were able to keep it much closer in the second half, only being outscored by three total points.
On Friday, the Lady Pioneers fell to Volunteer, keeping the game close up until the final minute when Crockett failed to measure up from the foul line.
Gladden led the way for Crockett in the 57-54 loss, earning 13 points. Ward and LaRae Ganger each added 12.
