Lady Blazers Little League All-Stars advance to state championship

The 9-10 Daniel Boone Lady Blazer softball team is just a game away from bringing a state title home to Gray.
The Lady Blazers pursuit of a championship began in the district tournament, where the team won all three of its games in District 5 without allowing a single run.
The first win came over Johnson County on July 6 by a score of 3-0. That victory was followed by a pair of wins over Unicoi County on July 8 and July 10, by scores of 12-0 and 5-0, respectively.
Jaycie Jenkins, who finished a complete game no-hitter in the July 10 contest, sparked the trio of wins.
After winning the district, the Lady Blazers advanced to the state tournament in Greeneville.
The Daniel Boone Little League All-Stars opened the tournament on July 13 with a four-inning, 18-2 win over the Hartsville All-Stars.
The Lady Blazers continued their perfect tournament a day later in a 6-2 win over Morristown.
In the semifinals contest on July 16, the Lady Blazers once again cruised to an easy win, advancing to the championship by defeating the Giles County All-Stars, 13-0.
Jenkins once again guided the All-Star team appearing in the circle in all three tournament games in Greeneville, pitching complete games over Morristown and Giles County.
Within just three contests, Jenkins tallied 29 strikeouts.
With the win over Giles County, the Lady Blazers advanced to the state tournament championship game, which was scheduled to be played late last week
