Junior Pioneer Camp brings fun for all

On July 25-26, the David Crockett Pioneers hosted their annual Junior Pioneer Football Camp.
The camp provided 58 kids with the opportunity to learn from Pioneer players and coaches, but also offered two days of football fun.
The camp, which is available for kids ages 5-12, offered drills for running backs, tackling and bag drills, and included activities on the five-man sled and the jug machine.
Other activities included a tug of war, teamwork building exercises, an obstacle course and a 7-on-7 competition.
While the campers undoubtedly gained valuable experience that will help establish their fundamentals and expand their knowledge of the game, the camp also presented current Pioneer players with a fun opportunity to act as instructors.
Pioneer Head Coach Jeremy Bosken said the camp not only affords campers with a few days of fun while learning the game, but also gives his players an exciting few days, as well as the opportunity to interact with the younger kids.
“The players loved it,” Bosken said. “The campers got to vote which group leader was the best, and it got wild.”
Now the Pioneers are in full preparation for the start of the season as practice officially began on July 27.
Crockett will open the season on Friday, Aug. 22, at Sullivan East.
