Jonesborough to host ‘Dash Through Downtown’ 5K

From STAFF REPORTS
The Town of Jonesborough will play host to the second annual Dash Through Downtown 5K on Saturday, Oct. 9.
The certified course starts and finishes in the downtown historic district of Jonesborough. It begins at 8 a.m. at the old courthouse on Main Street. From there, runners head up Boone Street to Highway 11E, then down Forrest Drive back to Main Street. The finish line is located near the Visitors Center on Boone Street.
Officials expect anywhere between 150 and 200 runners to take part in the event. Last year, 100 runners ran in the race.
Those interested in running the road race can register online at www.active.com or in person at Jonesborough’s Town Hall on Boone Street. Runners will also be able to register on the day of the race from 7 a.m. until 7:40 a.m. at the gazebo at Mill Spring Park.
The cost to run is $15 for those registered before Sept. 23 and $20 for runners who register after Sept. 23. Money raised through the race will be used for the Parks and Recreation Department’s special events and programming.
