Hill bullies Pioneers over Cocke County

David Crockett senior running back TK Hill carried his team to a 38-26 victory over Cocke County on Friday night and on the way he accumulated 246 yards on 44 carries and four touchdowns.

The win gives the Pioneers their first conference victory on the year and their second win of the season. David Crockett picked up 313 total yards and got off to a quick start, grabbing a 22-0 lead with just over 30 seconds left in the first quarter.

In the first quarter, Hill scored all of the teams touchdowns and they would add a field goal before they went into the locker room with a 25-6 lead. The lone score for Cocke County came when QB Jarren Ensley found Carson Nichols for a 21-yard score but the Fighting Cocks would miss the extra point. Ensley finished the night with 239 yards passing on 25-45 passing with three TDs.

Cocke County scored the first touchdown coming out of the half, when Ensley hit McKayne Ramsey from 9 yards out.

Zeb Holland then found the end zone from 12 yards out to give the Pioneers the 32-12 lead. Holland finished the night with five carried for 16 yards.

A highlight play from Cocke County ensued, when Hurst snagged a one-handed interception and returned it 98 yards for the score to pull things closer 32-20. Hurst finished the night with eight catches for 70 yards, while Austin Smith hauled in six catches for 94 yards and touchdown.

Hill found the end zone for the 4th time on his 41st carry of the night and the Pioneers were able to survive one more score from the Big Red to win.

Darian DeLapp recorded an interception on the night and had some electrifying plays, including a 40-yard punt return.
