Ferguson headlines 10 All-Conference selections

With the 2014 Big 7 softball season now in the books, 10 total Lady Blazers and Lady Pioneers were named to the 2014 All-Conference team.
Headlining the group was Boone pitcher McKenzi Ferguson who was selected as Conference Pitcher of the Year. The senior who has signed with Chattanooga State, helped guide the Blazers to another 30-win season and a conference tournament championship.
Ferguson was joined by several Boone teammates honored with second team All-Conference selections. The group includes: second baseman Abby Harrison, shortstop Hannah Montoya, outfielder Allie Littleton and second team pitcher Jaclyn Jenkins.
The Lady Pioneers, off a fourth- place finish in the conference during the regular season and a first-time appearance in the double-elimination portion of the conference tournament, matched the Lady Blazers with five selections of their own, which included first-team selections of Madison Grindstaff at second base and outfielder Madi Tarlton.
Crockett’s three second-team selections included: first baseman Samantha Fox, catcher Kelli Hooks and utility player Lily Ayers.
Volunteer’s Morgan Marshall was named Conference Player of the Year and Sullivan Central’s Eddie Spriggs was awarded Coach of the Year honors in his first season with the Lady Cougars.
