ETSU disc golf team takes part in national championships

East Tennessee State University was represented by two teams at the disc golf national collegiate championship, held in North Augusta, S.C.
The first ETSU team consisted of Adam Hernandez, Matt Love, Mitch Broyles and Justin Marshall, and the other included Justin Peters, David Rich, Bryan Rich and Aaron Doyka.
Over 60 teams began the competition and the top 20 finalists played another round of team doubles for the championship.
ETSU tied for 10th place with Purdue University, the team ranked first in the nation going into the contest. The win is especially significant because the top 16 teams automatically qualify for next year’s national championship.
In addition, ETSU teammates Hernandez and Love were named to the Disc Golf All-American team.
Team captain Love notes, “The event was amazing. Adam finished the tournament at 10 under par and I finished 7 under. Next year, we are not losing anyone on our team, so we plan to bring that big trophy back to ETSU.”
