David Crockett High School is preparing for their second annual Pioneer Pride Glow 5K which they will run on August 6 at 8 p.m.

The group of runners will start in the parking lot of David Crockett High School and run into downtown Jonesborough during the event. 400 runners participated during their inaugural run last year and the group hopes to have at least 600 runners this year.

“The theme of this race is community, we are trying to tie David Crockett High School to downtown Jonesborough and also our feeder schools,” David Crockett Track Coach Mark Jennings said.

This year a new twist will be added as the middle school with the most participants will win $300, while the second place school will walk away with $200. That money is open to any middle school that would like to participate.

There will be shuttles from downtown Jonesborough that will take runners back to their cars at David Crockett High School and there will also be a block party for the kids that will feature Tri-Cities Entertainment with pizza and drinks.

People that are interested in running in the event can register at Werunevents.com or RunTricities.org. The cost to run in the chip-timed event is $20 and age group winners will receive a prize.
