Daniel Boone foiled a two touchdown lead on Friday night, eventually falling to Mountain East Conference leader Morristown West 42-35 in overtime.
The Blazers were able to tie the contest with 1:22 left after Jake Chandler hauled in a 5-yard reception from Noah Shelton to even things up at 35. But the Blazers were unable to answer the Trojans score in overtime, netting three incomplete passes after picking up a yard on a run to open the drive.
The Trojans were led by Daymion Blevins who rushed for 192 yards on 22 carries, including a 94-yard touchdown to tie the contest at 28 with 10:59 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Shelton led the Blazers on the ground with 19 rushes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Shelton also completed 10 of 23 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns and an interception.
Freshman running back Charlie Cole finished the night with 14 carries for 104 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Boone’s Duncan Buchanan grabbed an 11-yard touchdown for his only catch of the night, while senior Richie Channell picked up his first career catch on a vital 3rd and 9 in the fourth quarter to pick up 24 yards to put the Blazers in the red zone to tie the contest.
Daniel Boone out gained the Trojans 416 to 379 in total offense.
