Crockett Pioneers keeping busy with offseason prep

With the 2015 football season set to kick off in two months, the Pioneers of David Crockett have already concluded winter conditioning and spring practice and are now ready for a busy summer schedule in preparation for the upcoming season.
Crockett Head Coach Jeremy Bosken was encouraged by a strong spring practice and hopes the Pioneers can build on that early momentum throughout the summer.
“The biggest takeaway from spring practice is that everyone came out healthy,” Bosken said. “And our defense looked the best I have seen in my three years here.”
The Pioneers will amp up preparation in July with a busy month of scheduled competitions and camps.
Crockett will once again participate in 7 on 7 competition this summer beginning with the Smokey Mountain 7 vs. 7 on July 7.
The next stop of the summer will mark their return to South Carolina’s Byrnes High School for more 7 vs. 7 play in the Palmetto Showdown on July 9-11. The competition will once again pit the Pioneers against some of the best high school athletes from schools across the country.
They will conclude their road trip with the FCA team camp on July 14-16 and close out the month with their annual Midnight Madness which marks their first team practice on July 26.
New to their summer schedule this year will be the Pioneer Pride 5k on Aug. 8. The run will begin at David Crockett High School and finish at the old courthouse steps at 8 p.m. A block party will follow the event.
The Pioneers have a busy scrimmage schedule leading up to the season with their first against Science Hill on July 31, a junior varsity scrimmage against Volunteer on Aug. 4 and a varsity scrimmage against Grainger County on Aug. 7.
Crockett will play their final scrimmage against Sullivan North on Aug. 11 before taking part in the Jamboree in Morristown on Aug. 14.
