Crockett falls to No. 1 Science Hill, Boone splits weeks’ games

Clinton Freeman’s arm wasn’t enough for David Crockett High School on Tuesday, when the Pioneers fell to the ‘Toppers 11-4.
With the win, Science Hill moved into first place in the Big Eight Conference.
Freeman allowed seven runs on 10 hits, and walked three batters. He had seven strikeouts in the game.
Science Hill’s senior Greyson Janeway proved too much, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. The ‘Toppers scored four straight hits in the top of the second and didn’t look back.
Jacob Berry was 1-for-3 for the Pioneers, with a run and two stolen bases. Dru Deloach drove in a run wuth a double. Ty Shipley also brought in a run with a single.
Crockett defeated Jefferson County on Saturday, 4-0.
This week, Boone beat Science Hill and Dobyns-Bennett, but fell to Volunteer.
They hosted Tennessee High on Monday night.
In a close game, Daniel Boone High School fell 5-4 to the Unicoi County Blue Devils on Friday. With the loss, the ‘Blazers fell to 7-11 overall.
By the fourth inning, Unicoi was up 5-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Boone responded. Josh Star, who went 2-for-4, and Hunter Salts scored back-to-back hits, and Caleb Cochran was walked by the Unicoi pitcher to load the bases.
Two Boone players walked across home, and Travis Keever brought in a run with a short grounder to first base.
Reppart pitched four innings, allowing six hits, and walking three.
On Wednesday, it was the eighth inning that did it for Boone.
At first, Science Hill rallied back from a six-run deficit in two innings, but in the eighth, Boone’s Hayden Chandley scored a game-winning walk-off hit for the Trailblazer 9-8 win.
Boone began the attack, going up 4-0 in the bottom of the first.
Steven McInturff and Kevin Connell helped the Trailblazers get out in front. Chandley, Salts and Chris Goodman added the next two runs.
The ‘Toppers rallied back against freshman starter Daniel Wagner, who pitched seven innings, allowing 10 runs.
Right now, Crockett stands at 4-2 in the conference, 9-4 overall, and is at second place behind Science Hill.
Boone is 3-4 in conference play, and 9-11 overall. They are ranked sixth out of the eight teams.
Volunteer is in last place in the conference.
