Crockett’s Freeman named Big 8 Player of the Year

The Big 8 Conference has recently named David Crockett standout pitcher and batter Clinton Freeman as its Player of the Year.
Freeman, who batted No. 2 in the lineup for the Crockett Pioneers, had a .545 batting average with eight homers, 48 RBIs, and a state-record 25 doubles during the season.
However, his success was not limited to his bat.
From the pitcher’s mound, Freeman went 7-3 with an ERA of 3.7. He managed to strike out 118 batters in just 70 innings.
Freeman is expected to play baseball for the East Tennessee State University men’s team next year.
Tennessee High’s Gil Payne won Coach of the Year.

Honorable Mention Players from Daniel Boone High School were Hayden Chandley, Travis Keever, Steven McInturff, Josh Starkey and Caleb Cochran.
