Just when it looked like the David Crockett Pioneers were going to punch the ball in from a yard out and tie the contest going into the locker room, things went array.
The Pioneers watched as Cherokee’s Japheth Curtsinger recovered a fumble and dashed 99 yards in front of the Pioneers bench, untouched, to give the Chiefs a two touchdown lead as the halftime buzzer sounded.
Nothing really went according to plan during the Pioneers 47-27 loss to Cherokee on Friday night.
The Chiefs were led by the one-two punch of quarterback Collin Trent and wideout Fletcher Hickman. The two linked up on four deep touchdowns of 69, 80, 55 and 68 yards to help Cherokee win.
