Boone to host Trailblazer Classic Dec. 16-21

The Daniel Boone High School basketball teams will host and participate in two holiday tournaments during December.
The Trailblazer Classic will be held Dec. 16-18, 20-21, with 28 middle school and nine high school teams participating for a total of 65 games. The tournament will include both boys and girls at the middle school level, including Washington County teams, and boys’ varsity at the high school level.
TRAILBLAZER CLASSIC SCHEDULE
Friday, Dec. 17, Varsity boys’ games ­— 5:30 p.m., Cloudland vs. Greeneville; 7 p.m., David Crockett vs. Sevier County; 8:30 p.m., Boone vs. William Fleming.
Saturday, Dec. 18, Varsity boys’ games ­— 5:30 p.m., William Fleming vs. South Greene; 7 p.m., West Greene vs. Sullivan Central; 8:30 p.m., Greeneville vs. David Crockett.
Monday, Dec. 20, Varsity boys’ games — 5:30 p.m., Sevier County vs. South Greene; 7 p.m., West Greene vs. Boone; and 8:30 p.m., Sullivan Central vs. Cloudland.
Middle school boys play Thursday, Dec. 16, with Boones Creek Middle taking on Central at 8:15 p.m.; Sullivan North vs. Vance at 7 p.m.; Church Hill vs. Blountville at 5:45 p.m.; and Unicoi vs. Sulphur Springs at 4:30 p.m. Games take place in the auxiliary gym.
On Friday, Dec. 17, in middle school action, Haywood will meet Holston Valley at 8:15 p.m. in the auxiliary gym; Ridgeview takes on Little Milligan at 4:15 p.m. in the main gym; Johnson County vs. Grandview, at 7 p.m. in auxiliary gym; and Holston faces Fall Branch at 3 p.m. in the main gym.
Middle school girls’ teams will see action starting on Thursday, Dec. 16, with Vance vs. Sullivan at 4:30 p.m.; Greeneville vs. Ridgeview at 5:45 p.m.; Unicoi County vs. Jonesborough, 7 p.m.; and Holston vs. Johnson County at 8:15 p.m. All games are in the main gym.
On Friday, Dec. 17, the following teams will play in Boone’s auxiliary gym: Vance 7th vs. Holston, 2 p.m.; Holston Valley vs. Greeneville, 3:15 p.m.; Boones Creek vs. Vance, 4:30 p.m.; and Central vs. Unicoi County, 5:45 p.m.
Play will continue on Saturday, Dec. 18, with Johnson County vs. Vance 7th, 2 p.m.; Jonesborough vs. Central, 3:15 p.m.; Sullivan vs. Boones Creek, 4:30 p.m.; and Ridgeview vs. Holston Valley, 5:45 p.m. These games will also be played in Boone’s auxiliary gym.
Boone will also host the Johnson City Honda/McDonalds’ Classic on Dec. 27-30, a girls’ varsity tournament. Check next week’s Herald & Tribune for more information on that tournament.
