Boone season ends at Sectionals

The Daniel Boone High School boys basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss in sectional action in Knoxville Monday night, ending its season with a 83-60 loss to Bearden.
Boone fell behind early in the matchup, down by 10 points in just the first few minutes of the game. At the end of the first quarter, Bearden’s lead was down to 9 points, but increased significantly by half time when the score stood at 46-29.
Things only got worse for the Trailblazers in the second half, as Boone trailed by double digits for remainder of the game.
Boone players Jordan Gray, Travis Keever and Hayden Chandley each recorded 11 points in the loss while Austin Reppart added seven to the scoreboard and Taylor Johnson earned six points.
If the Trailblazers had won, it would have been the team’s first trip to the state tournament in more than a decade.
Still, the season wasn’t all gloom and doom for Boone, who managed to defeat Science Hill twice in post-season play, earned a District 1-AAA championship and competed in the Region 1-AAA championship game.
The successful season whereby Boone finished as one of 16 Class AAA teams in the state comes on the heels of a successful football season for the school that saw the Trailblazers make it into the Class 5A quarterfinals.
