Boone loses two to ‘Toppers

From Staff Reports
The Science Hill Hilltoppers proved to be too much for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams of Daniel Boone High School on Saturday.
The boys’ team fought a close battle early in the Big Eight Conference game against the ‘Toppers, finishing the first half down by one point, at a score of 32-31.
Science Hill (3-1, 13-5) and Boone (1-3, 9-5) stayed close, with Boone taking a 42-41 lead with three minutes left in the third quarter thanks to a Travis Keever score.
But with a quick three-point play right after that score, the ‘Toppers took the lead for good, holding on for the 67-51 win, outscoring Boone 26-9 in the final 11 minutes.
Kevin Connell led the Trailblazers with 17 points, and Hayden Chandley added 10 points. Keever scored eight points.
The Lady ‘Toppers also defeated the Lady Trailblazers 46-34 , keeping their first place standing in the Big Eight.
Boone trailed 22-16 at the half, fell behind by 10, and rallied to cut the lead to four points before Science Hill finished the game with eight unanswered points. Courtney Basket led with 12 points.
