The Daniel Boone boys lost to the D-B Indians 59-53 Friday night in the District 1-AAA semifinals at David Crockett. The game was tied with two minutes left but the Indians pulled away to advance to the championship game.

Chad Heglar kicked off the game with a jumper and drive to the basket to take the early lead.  Marshall Golden and Heglar each hit three pointers to extend Boone’s lead.

Boone led by five with the first period almost over when Heglar hit a near full court three to give the Trailblazers a 21-13 lead.

The second period was all D-B as Boone scored only six points in the quarter.  The Indians led 32-27 at halftime.

D-B opened the third period with a three but Boone’s Eric Rigsby had three big baskets to keep it close and Heglar’s three-pointer cut the lead to three.

Jared Lawson pulled the ‘Blazers within one on a strong drive and a post up move after a basket by the Indians.  Evan Fitzgerald gave Boone the lead on a layup followed by Taylor Johnson’s offensive rebound and putback as the game see-sawed back and forth.

Rigsby converted a nice in-bounds play to retake the lead and Boone extended the lead to 47-43 on a three pointer by Heglar with under two seconds left.

The Blazers turned the ball over on their first two possessions of the final period and D-B tied the game off the miscues.

Big plays by Johnson and Noah Shelton saw Boone retake the lead but D-B struck back to tie the game with just over two minutes left.

The Indians hit a big three-pointer as the Blazers’ offense struggled throughout the period. D-B hit their free throws and claimed their spot in the finals with a 59-53 win.

Chad Heglar had 20 points while Eric Rigsby added 9 of his own. Jared Lawson also had 8 points along with 7 rebounds.

After dropping in the brackett, Boone then faced Washington County rival David Crockett High School for the third place district title on Saturday. The ‘’Blazers clinched the match up 57-55 to land third in the tournament. Boone will now face Jefferson County in an on-the-road regional quarterfinal game on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.
