Politicians can’t fool Mother Nature

It was a great idea. Take a shipload of climate change scientists, retrace the path of Douglas Mawson’s trip a century ago, and measure and compare water temperatures, study ice flows, etc. — all to show the world man-made global warming exists, even in the coldest part of the earth.
This voyage came to a screaming halt, however, when their ship and two rescue ships became lodged in ice.
“We’re stuck in our own experiment,” the Australasian Antarctic Expedition said in a statement. “We came to Antarctica to study how one of the biggest icebergs in the world has altered the system by trapping ice. We . . . are now ourselves trapped by ice surrounding our ship.
“Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up.”
Fortunately, The New Zealand Herald reports the scientists will plant 800 trees to compensate for the carbon dioxide produced by the expedition, so we are all safe. Next they need to compute the number of trees needed to offset the carbon footprint of the 77 eruptions of Mount Sinabung in Indonesia last week. What a forest that will be!!
Meanwhile, here in the U.S. we recorded thousands of record lows last year, dwarfing the number of record high temperatures. Ninety percent of the U.S. was below freezing last week, with an average temperature of 17 degrees nationwide on Jan. 7.
I admit it. I am a “denier.”  While I have always been concerned about the environment, I have never believed that man-made global warming was anything other than a way to generate support for government regulations, taxing, spending, redistribution of wealth and limiting our freedoms.
In fact, Dr. James Hansen, former head of NASA, suggested the best solution to global warming is a global tax. And that, to me, is what this is about. Governments need money. Little wonder why politicians are so “worried” about warming.
Predictions forecasting doom have been proven wrong by time alone. Consider the prediction of numerous strong hurricanes to follow Katrina. Where are they? Zero here last year. Studies going back a century show the number hurricanes and tornadoes decreasing.
Globally, carbon dioxide production has increased exponentially since the beginning of America’s industrial revolution some 250 years ago. Yet the earth’s temperature is up only 1 – 1.6 degrees. Temperatures have been flat for the last 15 years with some peer reviewed articles predicting this to continue until 2035 and beyond.
Twenty years of experience and study has shown there are just too many unknowns and too many variables involved. In fact, more and more peer-reviewed articles from around the world show we are headed for global cooling. Some predict a mini ice age similar to that of the 1300s.
Finally, who has defined the exact global temperature we need to achieve? Nobody! Therefore, we are just spending money and restricting freedoms until someone says it’s “good enough,” which will never happen. There is no “endgame.”
The inconvenient truth is man-made global warming never was. Let’s declare victory on global warming and stop spending our hard- earned money trying to fool Mother Nature.
