Richard E. (Dick) Quine, age 77, went to his eternal home July 11, 2015, at Franklin Woods Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn.
Born in Peoria, Ill., Dick lived a life filled with opportunity, challenge and change. He began his career at LeTourneau-Westinghouse in Peoria prior to graduation from Bradley University. In 1968, he accepted a position with Terex Division of General Motors, taking him to Hudson, Ohio. Subsequent advancements, opportunities and challenges prompted moves to N.J. (Towaco), Md. (Severna Park), N.C. (Raleigh), Ohio (Hudson), Md. (Eldersburg), Tenn. (Jonesborough), Ohio (Chardon), N.H. (Milford), and upon retirement, back to Tenn. (Telford) in 2005.
As a previous member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Jonesborough, he served as Treasurer of the Mens Group from 2011 to 2014, Church Treasurer from 2013 to 2014, taught a weekly carving group, and sang in the choir. More recently, he served as Deacon/Treasurer of Word Fellowship, Gray, and sang regularly in a Praise Team. He also organized and hosted a weekly carving group at the Jonesborough, TN Senior Center, moving the group later to his home. Dick was an avid fisherman, to be found often at Wilbur Dam or South Holston River near the weir dam.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Janet of 56 years; daughter Rebecca (Jonathan) Swerdloff of Davidsonville, Md., daughter Brenda (Jeffrey) Heintzelman of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and son Richard Quine, Jr. of Chardon, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Lowe, Cale Heintzelman, Sarah Swerdloff, Lee (Ruby) Heintzelman, and Zachary Swerdloff; great-granddaughters Aubrey and Rebecca Lowe, sister Judith (Terry) Cole of Phoenix, Ariz., sister-in-law Suzanne Burrows and niece Karen Burrows.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Quine, his father, George Quine, and his mother Geraldine Quine.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Word Fellowship, Gray, 225 Suncrest St., Gray, TN, followed by a brief Celebration of Life service conducted by John Hitechew, Pastor.
