Mr. Bob Phillips, well-known as, “Storyteller Mountain Man Bob”, went to be with his Lord on December 24, 2019 in Ocala, Florida. He was a professional storyteller who kept audiences in stitches as he told his humorous stories and tall tales. He often told the audiences that his stories were all true, based on the remote possibility that there exists a slim chance of possible fact. His talent resulted in many awards and achievements. In 2000, Bob captured first place in the National Storytelling Competition in Hillsboro, Ohio. He was a founding member of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild. He began telling professionally in 1994. Bob enjoyed fishing, golf, and spending time working on his stories as he sat on the front porch of his log cabin. His creative spirit made for captivating stories and unique props. Mountain Man Bob was a crowd favorite for his unforgettable humor and family-friendly stories.
He is survived by his children Sueanne Broyer, Lisa Martin, Andrew Phillips, and stepsons Kirk & Kyle St. Clair. He was born Sept. 10, 1940 in Red River, LA and his remaining siblings are Linda Phillips, Mike Phillips and Janice Calaway. He was the oldest of his father’s 5 children and 4 stepchildren. Mr.
Phillips was preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia, who went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2014. Bob and his late wife, Pat, faithfully attended services at Limestone Free Will Baptist Church.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 18th at Limestone Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Roach officiating.
The church is located at 3709 Old State Route 34 in Limestone, TN.
