James “Pete” Foister

Mr. James “Pete” Foister, age 85, of Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Foister was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late James Pete Foister, Sr. and Bessie Greene Foister. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Mr. Foister was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church. He retired from Klopman Mills after 47 years of service. He loved farming, coon hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 67 years, Ethel Foister of the home; one son, Harold D. Foister and his wife Linda of Jonesborough; two daughters, Teresa Garland and her husband Roger of Mountain City and Jan Barnett and her husband Lynn of Johnson City; one sister, Maggie Markland of Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Robin Sturgill and her husband Patrick of Johnson City, Jeremy Garland and his wife Kelley of Dallas, Texas, Ben Garland of Jonesborough and Rebecca Chaffin and her husband Brian of Jonesborough; three great grandchildren, Kaley Sturgill, Madison Sturgill and Emily Chaffin. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted Friday, August 19, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel.
