H. Don Miller

Mr. H. Don Miller, age 87, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Mr. Miller was born in Johnson City and son of the late Earl Matson & Carrie Horton Carr Miller. In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was also preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and his beloved dog, “Roper.”
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City, where he served as Deacon.
Mr. Miller was a United States Navy Veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII on the Island of Guam.
He was a graduate of Milligan College and retired Manager of the Herald & Tribune newspaper.
Mr. Miller was an avid golfer and former TSSAA Basketball Official.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mat & Pam Miller and Gary & Diane Miller, all of Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Steve Bagby, Atlantic Beach, FL; brother, Rev. David Miller, Black Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Tarah Lewis, Melinda Miller, Casey Bagby and Sam Bagby; great-grandchildren, Ally Lewis and Brandon Lewis; and mother of his children, Patricia Winn.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 9, 2012, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Interment services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Miller, Mike Pitts, Jack Pitts, Bill Toohey, Steve Bagby, Sam Bagby, Mat Miller and Gary Miller.

Bobby Summie
Mr. Bobby R. Summie, age 65, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Summie was a native of Washington County and son of the late Orville L. & Pearlie Begley Summie. In addition to his parents, Mr. Summie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Summie and Billy Summie; two sisters, Joyce Tipton Trepanosky and Sharon Shaw Townsend.
He attended Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Summie retired from Eastman Chemical Company.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Summie, Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Beth & Roger Bryant, Waxhaw, NC; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Stacey & Brian Keith; grandchildren, Matthew Bryant, Adam Bryant, Ashlyn Lane and Nathan Keith; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy & Shelby Summie and David & Diana Summie; one sister and brother-in-law, Teresa & Deril Dixon; special friends, Amber & Brian Smith and Tammy Spencer; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with Rev. Bill Ponder officiating.
Pallbearers were nephews, great-nephews and friends.
