Ernest ‘Buck’ Travis

Ernest “Buck” Travis, Limestone, died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Lakebridge Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.
A lifelong native of Johnson City, Mr. Travis was a son of the late Home and Evelyn Bell Travis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Airborne Infantry during Vietnam.
Mr. Travis was a member and past President of the Tennessee Dirt Karting, the World Kart Association and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed working on Harleys and was a Harley Motorcycle Mechanic.
Mr. Travis is survived by his wife, Carol Tipton Travis, of the home; three children, Lieutenant Junior Grade Travis Travis, currently stationed with the Naval Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25, Yigo, Guam, Myra Travis, Cookeville, TN, Lora Travis, Limestone; two special cousins, Alice Zinkevich, Mass., and Veda Travis, Salt Lake City, UT.
The military graveside service and internment was conducted Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Rd., Johnson City, TN 37604.
