Bess Twaddle

Mrs. Bess C. Twaddle, age 92, Telford, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Broadmore Senior Living.
She was a native of Meridian, Mississippi, and daughter of the late Sylvester & Thelma Reynolds Caraway. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy R. Twaddle; and one sister, Ruth Nickols.
She attended Jonesborough United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Twaddle was a World History and Art Teacher for over 30 years in Memphis. She traveled to India on a Fulbright Grant and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband.
She was founder of the Jonesborough Genealogy Society, member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of 1812 and Daughters of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Twaddle and her husband survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. She also survived Hurricane Katrina.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert & Susan Twaddle, Johnson City, Tn., and Roy R. & Gayle Twaddle, Portsmouth, RI; grandchildren, Sharon Twaddle McGinnis and Tracey Gunnlaugsson and husband, Thor, and Paul Pierce and wife, Elizabeth.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Jonesborough United Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy Wright officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6-7 p.m.
