White seeking reelection in seventh district

Janice Sanders White recently announced she will run as an independent candidate for the Washington County Commission, running in the seventh district.
“I was elected in the past as an independent candidate and I wish to continue to represent all of the people of the seventh district voting precincts of Gray, Leesburg, and Sulphur Springs,” White said.
White, the chairperson of the Clean Water Task Force, said she will continue to work to help secure safe drinking water for all Washington Countians.
“We have accomplished getting safe water for some citizens but there is still a great need for others,” she said.
White is a lifelong Washington County resident. She presently resides in Sulphur Springs with her husband, Charles Raymond “Bruce” White.
White is the daughter of Sarah Eva Goodman Sanders and the late W. J. “Bill” Sanders.
She is a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and Whitney Business College.
White is a retired broker/owner of White’s Star Realty and member of New Hope Church of the Brethren, Sulphur Springs Community Chest, auxiliary of John M. Reed Nursing Home, Chamber of Commerce Leadership 2015 alumni, Farm Bureau Board of Women, and president of the advisory board of the Jonesborough-Washington County Senior Center.
In addition to the Clean Water Task Force, White is currently the chairperson of the Flag Committee, Zoning Office Committee, County Owned Properties Committee and secretary of the Education Committee.
