Hundreds came out to the Relay For Life of Washington County on June 10 at Indian Trail Middle School in Johnson City. The event honored all those who have battled cancer and raised money to find a cure for the disease. Dozens of teams spent the night at the event, walking the track through the evening until 7 a.m. the next day. Several activities took place throughout the night, including entertainment by a Jonesborough band, The Twang Bangers, a special luminaria ceremony, local celebrities in dunk tanks and a Mr. Relay Pageant that brought in an estimated $1,000 in fundraising in less than 30 minutes.
