UPDATE: Washington County results are in

It is being reported that Bill Haslam has won the Republican Primary in the governor’s race. East Tennessee native and gubernatorial candidate Ron Ramsey reportedly conceded the race and spoke with Haslam by phone.
In Washington County, unofficial results from the August 5 General Election are now in. Below are the results from the polls. Winners are notated with an asterisk next to their names. Results remain unofficial until the election commission can canvass and certify them.
Winners of state and federal elections will depend on results coming in from throughout the state in addition to Washington County.

WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS –
1st District – Three will be elected

UNOPPOSED COUNTY CANDIDATES
Five county officials are running unopposed in the County General Election. They are county mayor-elect Dan Eldridge; county clerk-elect Kathey Storey; county sheriff Ed Graybeal; circuit court clerk Karen Guinn; and register of deeds Ginger Jilton.
Also unopposed are Jeff Kelly for 1st Judicial District public defender and Sharon Green for juvenile judge of Johnson City.

GOVERNOR’S RACE
The Republican Primary candidate who wins on Aug. 5 will face Mike McWherter, the sole candidate for the Democrat Primary in the November Election.

TENNESSEE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES & SENATE
Incumbent Dale Ford faces Kevin Flanary in the Tennessee House of Representatives Republican Primary for the 6th District. There is no Democrat in the running, meaning whichever candidate takes the Aug. 5 election will have earned the seat.

Incumbent Matthew Hill is unopposed in the Republican Primary for the 7th District and will go on to face Democrat Todd Mrozek, who is unopposed in the Democrat Primary for the same position, and Independent candidate Jesse Overbey.
Rusty Crowe is unopposed in the Republican Primary for the Tennessee State Senate from Washington and Carter counties. He will go on to face Ken Owens, who is unopposed in the Democrat Primary, in the November Election.

FEDERAL RACE
Both Democrat and Republican Primaries for the federal office of U.S. House of Representatives, 1st District are on the August ballot.
