United Way meets goal with $50,000 donation
The United Way of Washington County met its annual fundraising goal thanks to a donation from Roadrunner Markets last week.
Just before Christmas, the organization was still $30,000 short. After hearing about the need, Roadrunner Markets decided to not only help the United Way reach its goal, but put them over the top with a $50,000 donation.
The United Way helps so many here in Washington County. We wanted to make sure they have the funds to continue the level of services people in this area depend on, said Ryan Broyles, Roadrunner Markets president. Weve pledged $50,000…but thats just a small part of the organizations overall goal.
This years United Way goal was $1.725 million. The United Way helps fund 17 local nonprofit service agencies in Washington County.
Your support allows us to provide service to more than 25,000 individuals each month of the year, Lester Lattany, president of the Washington County United Way, told Broyles last week.
These are services for children, the elderly, families and individuals in crisis.
