Town unveils new website

The Town of Jonesborough has unveiled a new website targeted, officials say, at being much more user friendly.
“One of the best features of it is the calendar we’re using,” said Town Adminstrator Bob Browning. “It becomes a central calendar for all of the activities that are going on in town.”
Terry Alexander, who worked more than two years to get the new site up and running, said she is especially pleased with its value for newcomers to Jonesborough.
“We wanted to help residents get information about the town more easily,” explained Alexander, who works as the town’s website maintenance coordinator. “We tried to answer any of the questions someone who just moved here needed to know.”
The old site was long overdue for an update, Alexander said.
“It was extremely outdated,” she said. “It wasn’t very user friendly, and the organization needed to be clearer.”
The new Town of Jonesborough website, which is still located at, features a fresh design, clear and simple tabs across the top to direct users to where they need to go and a colorful calender along the right side of the page highlighting the town’s many activities.
“What is available in the arts in town is another big issue,” Alexander said. “That’s just a huge thing, and Jonesborough offers so much. We tried to make that a priority (with the calendar.)”
Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting minutes are also easily accessible, she said.
Still, for Alexander, it is the ease in locating whom to call for what issue that really stands out.
“You should be able to find anything you’re looking for,” she said.
