Town officially receives $500,000 ARC grant

From STAFF REPORTS
NASHVILLE — State legislators announced last week the approval of a $500,000 Appalachian Regional Commission grant for the Town of Jonesborough.
ARC grants assist state and local agencies, governmental entities, local governing boards or nonprofit organizations with infrastructure improvements.
The grant money will be used to help fund a project that will address health and safety concerns, as well as benefit residential, commercial and industrial customers, by correcting design capacity and discharge standard failures of the town’s waste water treatment plant.
Funding for the $2.5 million project will include $2 million in other funds.
“I am pleased that Jonesborough will be receiving these funds,” said Rep. Dale Ford (R-Jonesborough). “This grant program makes so many fundamental community development projects possible, and I applaud the local leadership in Jonesborough for recognizing this opportunity and seizing it.”
