Third District: Larry England

Johnson City
Owner, Cartridge World franchise for East Tennessee
Seeking first term
“Being a local business owner and being involved in many committees gives me a unique perspective on what the needs are in the community,” England said. “I also have relationships with people in the city and county which would create a better working relationship between the two.”
It would also make for a stronger community and enable it to continue moving forward, he noted. “Sometimes we’re voting on issues but don’t always see the consequences,” he said. “We need a better idea of where we’ve been to know where we’re going.”
1. Which committees would you like to serve on and why?
“Not being a current member, I’m not sure how many there are. Any committee that I could bring something to the table, I would be happy to serve on.”
2. What factors should be considered in a decision on whether commissioners receive benefits?
“I think we should look at surrounding counties to see if we are within reason, and what the industry standard is based on the hours required for commissioners.
“I want to follow the golden rule, and we have part-time county employees who don’t receive insurance.”
