Suspect receives additional charges in second arrest

A partnership with drug officials in a neighboring county led to an arrest March 20 at David Crockett High School.
Travis Metcalf, 19, was spotted by Washington County Interdiction Investigator Gary Daugherty in the passenger seat of a vehicle driven by a person who was on campus to pick up a student.
Upon recognizing Metcalf as an individual who was under a warrant in Greene County for failure to appear in court, Daugherty contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office who confirmed the warrant was still active.
While taking him into custody, Daugherty asked Metcalf if he was carrying anything incriminating in his pockets. A pat-down discovered a small amount of marijuana, a pipe and a cut straw commonly used for drugs.
Metcalf was charged with simple possession and two counts of drug paraphernalia. He was booked on a $3,000 bond, and an arraignment was scheduled for March 23 in Sessions Court.
Daugherty said WCSO interdiction investigators work closely with Greene County and are familiar with current cases, which strengthens law enforcement in both counties.
