Suspect in county murder found dead from apparent suicide

Two men are dead following a shooting in Washington County and what appears to be the subsequent suicide of the alleged murder suspect.
Authorities were investigating a May 19 shooting at 120 Woodlyn Road, Johnson City, where it is believed Bryan Shona Meredith, 48, of Watauga, shot and killed the home’s resident, Roger Steve Bentley, 57.
Police were searching for Meredith on May 20 when Carter County authorities spotted the vehicle associated with the murder concealed at a residence on Smalling Road in Watauga. Inside the home, officers found Meredith, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities also found evidence inside the vehicle further linking Meredith to the murder.
According to Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal, it is believed the homicide was drug related.
