Investigators with the Washington County Sheriffs Office arrested Steve W. Stroupe, 39, 144 Sugar Hollow Road, last week following an atlercation.
According to police, the incident began after Stroupe was followed home by Jeff L. Street, 43, 342 Woodlyn Road.
In the beginning, the two engaged in a pugilistic bout in the front yard of Stroupes residence, but the fight turned serious when a knife was produced and Street received two serious lacerations to his back and arm, police said.
Street fled the scene and both parties then called 911.
Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Stroupe was charged with aggravated assault for using excessive force during the fight.
After being treated for the injuries sustained in the altercation, Street also was arrested and charged with simple assault.
From the information gleaned from the investigation, Street had followed Stroupe to his home and after Stroupe pulled into his driveway, Street got out of his car and actively participated in an altercation.
According to police, Street had ample opportunity to drive away and avoid any fight, but chose not to do so.
