Seeking third term
“I’m very proud of Washington County and the quality of life we are so fortunate to enjoy,” Larkey said. “My approach as a commissioner will continue to be positive and respectful, but a strong accessible voice for the residents of Sulphur Springs and Gray. I will continue working hard to provide all citizens of Washington County the best services possible at the lowest obtainable cost to the taxpayer.”
1. What are the priorities of a county commissioner?
“Keep property taxes low; make sure the funds provided to the school system are adequate for a quality education; always be accessible to your constituents and be quick to answer their questions and assist them in time of need; to wisely manage taxpayer dollars and define areas where the county, city and town can work together for the overall benefit of all Washington County citizens; and to provide jobs and economic development.”
2. How will you prepare for committee meetings and meetings of the full commission?
“The county currently has too many committees; however, I currently do and will continue to read the information provided in the packets plus any additional reports from the mayor and budget director concerning the county’s finances. I will continue when necessary to ask officials questions concerning his or her department, listen to my constituents, and vote for the best interest of Washington County.”
