“My slogan is ‘A Voice for the People,’” McGuire said, adding his work in the Property Assessor’s Office has him dealing with people every day. “It’s not something I’m getting into that I don’t know anything about,” he said.
1. What are the challenges in your district?
“At the present time, none that I know of.”
2. What does the relationship between the commission and the county officials need to be?
“Open-minded and willing to work together. We can have a difference of opinion, but we need to do what is best for the citizens of Washington County. I helped an 80-year-old woman who had been trying for 20 years to get a drain tile put in. It took me six months, and I had to take it to Public Works twice. It shouldn’t take that long. You pay taxes, and I think you need to be represented.”
