Principals on the move as school begins

With the new school year kicking off, there are some familiar and new faces in different places across the county as administrators.

 Former Boones Creek Elementary principal Kelley Harrell has taken the helm at Ridgeview and she has a new assistant principal in Stephan Williams, who has joined the Washington County School System after teaching previously in Kingsport City Schools.

J.W. McKinney has filled Harrell’s spot as the new principal at Boones Creek Elementary School. It is a return to Boones Creek for McKinney, who served as an assistant principal at the elementary and middle school from 2006 to 2008.

Former Daniel Boone Assistant Principal Tim Campbell has taken over the head position at Daniel Boone, after being an assistant principal since 2002. Cheryl McHone has become an assistant principal at DBHS, joining the ranks as an administrator after teaching at Daniel Boone.

Erika Patterson is the new assistant principal at Gray Elementary; she has taught in the Washington County School System since 2012. Travis Thompson is the new principal at Gray, after having been an assistant principal at Boones Creek Elementary for two years. Another assistant principal that has made the jump to the lead role is Matt Combs at Jonesborough Elementary. He has joined Jonesborough after serving as assistant principal at Sulphur Springs. Leslie Lyons will be his assistant principal at Jonesborough. Michelle Murray has replaced him as assistant principal at Sulphur Springs Elementary.
