Phyllis Corso takes over late husband’s commission seat

Phyllis Corso was elected to serve the remainder of her late husband’s term on the Washington County Commission during the March 25 meeting.
No nominations were received during the public hearing held at the beginning of the meeting. When the floor was opened to commissioners, David Tomita nominated Corso to fill the vacancy left when Joe Corso died in January.
Commissioner Pat Wolfe immediately made a motion that nominations cease and Phyllis Corso be elected by acclimation. The motion passed unanimously.
She was sworn in, took her seat at the table and participated in the March meeting. She will serve the 4th Commission District with Tomita and Commissioner Lee Chase until the term ends Aug. 31, 2014.
