Nominees being accepted for preservation awards

As part of Preservation Month 2011, the Heritage Alliance is now accepting nominations for its annual Regional Preservation Awards recognition program.
The Regional Preservation Awards celebrate those projects which best exemplify historic preservation efforts at work in Jonesborough, Washington County, and the entire region.
The awards also recognize individuals, groups, and organizations working to significantly advance the cause of historic preservation in our communities.
Over the past five years, nearly two dozen buildings, individuals, and groups have been honored for their efforts to help protect the historical, architectural, and cultural treasures of our region.
Those interested in nominating a project, individual, or organization for a Regional Preservation Award should visit the Heritage Alliance website to download a nomination form, or pick one up at the Heritage Alliance office at 212 E. Sabin Drive.
Awards will be presented in the following categories: Outstanding Exterior Restoration, Outstanding Interior Restoration, Outstanding Adaptive Reuse, Outstanding Preservation Advocacy by an Individual, and Organizational Excellence in Preservation.
Completed award nominations should be postmarked or dropped off at the Heritage Alliance office no later than Monday, March 28.
A selection committee will review all nominations and ultimately determine award distribution.
A ceremony, honoring the selected recipients will be held on Thursday, May 26 ending our Preservation Month celebration.
