Lyon to run for 5th District county commissioner seat

Ken Lyon recently announced his candidacy for county commissioner for the 5th District of Washington County. The 5th district represents the voting precincts of Cherokee- inside and outside the city, Midway- outside the city, and Lamar.
Lyon and his wife, Donna Andrews Lyon, are the parents of Carleton and Greg.
“We are fortunate that both sons and their families reside in Johnson City,” Lyon said. “Needless to say, it is important to me that the quality of life and educational opportunities are maintained, both for your families and for mine.”
Lyon’s career has been in primarily health and life insurance.
He has been self-employed for over 40 years.
He has served in many community organizations, including the presidency of the Johnson City Boys and Girls Club and most recently has served as president of the Greenwood Ruritan Club.
Lyon is a member of Eden United Methodist Church.
“My reason for seeking election is simple — I am a concerned citizen,” Lyon said. “The county commission spends our tax dollars and sets policies that effect everyone in Washington County. It is imperative that the taxpayers’ voices be heard. “
As a lifelong resident of Johnson City, Lyon said he has a “vested interest in seeing that our futures remain economically sound.”
