JRTs Singin in the Rain is coming to town
Tap your toes and sing along as Jonesborough Repertory Theatre brings the splashy adaptation of the celebrated and beloved film, Singin In the Rain to the stage Jan. 22 Feb. 15.
Singin In The Rain has all the spicy details of a Hollywood headline with a starlet, a leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers. In a time of silent films, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a popular couple, but behind the scenes things arent always as they seem on film. Meanwhile, Linas squeaky voice might be the end of her career, without the help of a new young actress who is willing to do the talking and singing for her.
Filled with every cherished moment from the film and a handful of unforgettable songs, Singin In The Rain is a timeless success that will leave the audience tapping and clapping to the beat.
Complete with inspiring dances, hilarious dialog and an onstage monsoon, Jonesborough Repertory Theatre is set to stage a musical that has been noted as one of the Greatest Movie Musicals of All Time.
Singin In the Rain is directed by Jennifer Schmidt with choreography by Lindy Ley.
The cast of Singin In the Rain includes Tim Reynolds as Don Lockwood, Lucas Schmidt as Cosmo Brown, Kylie Green as Kathy Selden, Heather Allen as Lina Lamont, Kate Anderson as Zelda Zanders, Seth Reynolds as Young Don Lockwood, Stephen Cradic as Young Cosmo Brown, Larry Button as R.F. Simpson, Shawn Hale as Tenor/Production Singer and Roscoe Dexter, Susan Saam as Miss Dinsmore and Tom Sizemore as Male Diction Coach.
The ensemble includes Jake Jones as Sound Engineer, Corey Tickles as Rod, Janette Gaines as Dora Bailey, Sharon Squibb as Olga Mara and First Assistant Director, Holly Marshall as Third Assistant Director, Kathryn Palmer as Second Assistant Director, Krista Wharton, Jessica Shelton, Kristin Merrifield, Kim Berry, Emily Matney, Alexis Turner, Lindy Ley and Don Squibb.
Singin In the Rain at Jonesborough Repertory Theatre opens on Thursday, Jan. 22, with an evening performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. The show will take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Sunday, Feb. 15.
