Jonesborough police make 29 arrests in March

Jonesborough police made 29 arrests during March, totaling 57 charges including two for driving under the influence.
The department issued 67 citations in the same time frame, 24 of which were for speeding.
The majority of the citations were written on West Jackson Boulevard.
A total of 22 traffic crashes were reported and investigated in March.
The majority of those occurred on East Jackson Boulevard, with five resulting in injuries.
Police K-9 Gregor helped make four arrests in March while K-9 Rio made three. Both Gregor and Rio went to Paris in March where they were re-certified with the North American Police Work Dog Association.
Traffic cameras were busy in March, registering 413 violations that resulted in 327 citations being mailed out to violators.
Of the 327 mailed out, 172 violations were for running a red light while 155 were for speeding.
The highest number of red light violations occurred at East Jackson Boulevard and Headtown Road, going eastbound.
The Jonesborough Fire Department answered 34 calls in March, with one working structure fire at 521 Hales Chapel Road on March 3.
