Jonesborough police arrest 47 in August

Jonesborough police arrested 47 people on 72 offenses in August, including four charges of driving under the influence, 17 drug violations, five burglary charges and 13 instances of reckless endangerment.
A total of 27 traffic crashes were reported in August, one of which was fatal.
Michael Whaley, 22, of Jonesborough, died in a single-vehicle wreck on Aug. 26. The Tennessee Highway Patrol also worked the crash.
The majority of traffic crashes in Jonesborough last month took place on East Jackson Boulevard. Four of the wrecks resulted in injuries.
Traffic cameras in Jonesborough led to 399 citations being mailed out last month to vehicle owners for running red lights and speeding.
The highest number of red light violations occurred southbound on Forrest Drive at East Jackson Boulevard. The majority of speeding violations occurred on East Jackson Boulevard at Headtown Road heading west.
Jonesborough firefighters responded to 31 calls for service last month, including several traffic crashes.
